Kate Hudson to return to Boston in "Bride Wars"

One of the coolest actresses that has come to film a movie here in Boston is returning. She will be starring along with Anne Hathaway in "Bride Wars" just another addition to the swarm of films that are coming to Boston this year. No word as of yet when filming will start and any casting info. But always swing by this blog to keep checking, because once it becomes official we will let you know:)

Inches away from being Mark Ruffalo's Stand In

And I mean that in actuallity, I was called to be Mark Ruffalo's stand in in the Scorsese film "Ashcliffe" based on the book Shutter Island. I was called in where I was competeing for the job with two other guys. After 8 hours all three of us were called in where we were in a room surrounded by people and a very nice Mark Ruffalo and Martin Scorsese. Mark wished us luck and we all stood in a straight line next to Mark and were photographed. I stood on Mark's left side and right there I knew I had lost the job because I could see I was shorter by two inches. Anyhow they thanked us for being flexible and one of the guys that I was competeing with won the job. Nice guy, I wished him luck and headed home. All in all it was a honor to be in a room with Scorsese and got to meet a person such a Mark Ruffalo. Everyone all around were such A+ people, but who knows I might get called for something else. Sometimes you just have to fit the suit.

Any cool photograpgers out there?

Would anyone recommend any good experiences they might have had with a photographer? Especially when it comes to headshots. Please leave your comments and reccomendations so we can share it with our readers:) Thanks:)

A possibility of movie studios here in BOSTON! Too good to be true?!

When the news came out yesterday about movie moguls coming to beacon hill on the possibility of building a movie studio in Plymouth. I almost choked on my popcorn! I have heard this rumor here and there but I didn't really imagine it was going to happen. Guys, if this goes through this will be the beginning of something very special. Think about the work this will come to this state, this place will officially be "Hollywood East". Gone will be the days of "when will they film here in Boston" or " All the projects are going to Canada" . With the way things have been since last January were looking pretty good! So cross you fingers everybody and pray for the best. .

Stand-In Work Is A Pretty Good Thing...

I just recieved an e-mail asking me what I thought about stand-in work? I think it's a great thing for several reasons. First you will be working multiple days, maybe the whole shoot (which means great money!) Second you might get a line. I have seen this happen on a couple of sets. If the stand in is doing the whole shoot the director gets used to him or her and then sometime gives them a line just for "filler" in the scene. Lastly and this is if you are lucky, you get to know the actor you are standing in for a little bit more. This all depends on who the actor is and how long you will be standing in for him / her for. The longer you work the better the chance. Now some people saying you won't be seen in the movie. This is true but bottom line is we are working and the longer the duration of work we get the better. If you have some stand-in work stories and you would like to share please do:) Have a nice weekend!

Scorsese Has Arrived!!

The man has arrived back to his Oscar winning state, to start filming Shutter Island. Reports indicate he and Leo arrived Wed. so cameras are set to roll in the next couple of weeks. Actually I just finished the book a few weeks ago and let me tell you guys something....simply an amazing story. If Marty can transform that book into his movie magic, then I see gold in his future. IF you have not picked the book up, do so it's by Dennis Lehaen and is a much different story than Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River by a mile!!! So get ready for the calls people because the Scorsese invasion has begun!! Awesome!

Do Not Get SCAMED By These So Called Entertainment Agencies!

Once in a while you drive in your car and you hear an ad saying "Only this Saturday a well respected entertainment agency will be holding auditions for major films and tv shows." So now what happens a bunch of hopefulls jam this hotel function hall where this agency is to hold these "auditions". Truth is they are there for your money. What they will say is something on the lines of this "your good but you should be taking these types of classes we offer and take these types of professional photos we offer. Because you have a Brad Pitt or Sandra Bullock type of talent." So what happens the individuals hear those movie stars names and the next thing they know they are reaching for their credit card. STOP!!!!!! IT'S A SCAM!!!! They use those names as bait to sucker you into take their 6 week basic acting class for $1400 and their "photo shoot" for another $2,000 +! What is the end result....nothing, you still have to battle for roles ju

What was your favorite Boston movie set?

It's survey time folks and today's survey is "what is your all time favorite Boston movie set you ever worked on and why?" We all have our favorites for various reasons the actors, the crew, the food, you name it we have our reasons. So please share your experience:)

You mean now I have to take YOUR acting classes to even audition for a role?!?

Now I'm not saying takeing acting classes are bad, as a matter of fact it's a great thing to take to further your craft. BUT to take acting classes in order to be considered for auditions for major productions and comercials, well my friends that is a WHOLE different story. There is no reason why anyone should "buy their way into an audition in order to be considered for a major audition." It's just wrong. Now this is be going on for sometime for what I understand by some casting agents. Sure the casting agents are our door to opportunity to getting "the gig" but not to pay our way in. All actors should have an equal opportunity to audition for a role have taken that casting director's acting class or not. I would consider this the nice version of the casting couch.

First Film Out of The Gate in 2008 Has BEGUN!!

If you do work on this project please letjavascript:void(0) Publish Post us know and what you thought:)

The End Of Movie Set Cliques...

I was on a set just recently and was talking to another actor. He was telling about a time where there actually a movie set clique here in Boston (mind you we are talking about "extras") where they bullied their way on set. Now after describeing them to me, I remembered who they were. They acted as if they were the cats meow "extra moviestars" if you will. So in other words if you were working on a set and had some camera time, one of these guys would talk with someone and suddenly you were swaped with them. (But they were waaayyyyy in the back not seen) How does that happen? Well at a time it did, but I haven't seen them recently so maybe someone spoke up. Look we are all there to work, and it is really the luck of the draw as to where you are placed on the set. Some days we are lucky and some days we are not, but that's how the business is. But the last thing we need is on set politicking via "extras", I think that's a little abusrd

Stage Parents. do not force the issue.

Look I am a parent and I see certain things in my son that says that kid's has talent. Not in this industry but possibly in construction and oddly enough cooking. Even though I might see it and I can make him recognize it, it doesn't mean I am going to force it on him if he doesn't want to do it. When it comes to this industry...man it is annoying at times. I was on a set not too long ago where it was just a typical long day. There were kids ranging from 10 to 15yrs old, and they really didn't get to work until the 9th hour per say. Now in the morning it was all exciting that they were on a movie set, and all that stuff. But eventually they got bored and wanted to leave, the parents were not having any of that. Sad. The parent indicated they they were to stay and wait no matter how long it takes because you are "talented". This kid was so upset that it caused a huge scene. Eventually someone finally spoke up and just said "don't force the iss

Don't Bother The Actors While Working On A Set.

I have been on many sets working and enjoying the opportunity of doing this on the side for the past 18 years. As some people know that have done this for sometime, the golden rule is not to talk to the actors. Look, when you are working on a movie set everyone there is just doing that and that is working. So when it comes to some "big time" actors they do not want to be bothered because they really have a responsibilty to hold a movie, simply leave them alone. But what amazes me is that there are times when people have the balls to go right up to the movie star and ask them "Hi, how are you doing? By the way how's your mother?!?!" who they heck in there right mind would do that! Amazingly enough the actress was kind and responded with a suttle "she's doing fine" and left it at that. But if she wanted to I am sure she could have been rude but she wasn't, which shows us what kind of person she is. Then there are those other actors / mov

BRUCE WILLIS TO BOSTON!

Bruce willis will be filming a movie in town called "The Surogates" sometime this spring or summer. The plot description given by IMDB: Set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop (Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others’ surrogates. sounds pretty cool just wondering how they would make a science fiction here in Boston makes me scratch my head. But now with CGI anything is possible. Hey, if they can make Pink Panther 2 that the majority of the film was filmed here in Boston look like Paris, I am sure it will be no problem. Can't wait for the call on that!!

Extras Are Not Principles

Most of you know I am sure of www.imdb.com aka internet movie database. which is the end all be all of movie information of movies past , current and future. Well what has been happening as of late is that under movies that have filmed in Boston actors that were extras have listed their names and photos under the principles list. This one action that has been going on the past 24 months has led a division line right down the middle of the new england actor community. The debate is extras should not list their names under the principles list. My opinion is I agree with them. If you were working as a background performer in a film you really have no business listing your name under the credits. As a recent 2nd assistant director from a major feature film that was just here stated and I quote " if your name is not going to be on the end credits, your name should not be on the imdb under the cast of that film" If you said "boo" in the movie and were paid for it
